Melbourne Star Observation Wheel

Melbourne Star, located in the thriving waterfront precinct of Docklands, provides a new perspective of Melbourne’s vibrant cityscape, by day or night and is the perfect introduction to Melbourne – for visitors and seasoned Melburnian’s alike. 

Your temperature controlled, floor to ceiling, glass cabin allows you to experience the 360-degree, unobstructed views from the Star across the city and surrounding regions of up to 40 kilometres from the Southern Hemisphere’s only giant observation wheel.

LED Lighting Display

Every night, from dusk onwards, the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel lights up the Melbourne skyline with a spectacular LED lighting display. Three and half kilometres of LED lighting engineered into the structure of the giant observation wheel generate more than 15 million different light combinations.

Tales of Melbourne

Test your general knowledge of Melbourne by having a browse through the colourful tales of Melbourne storyboards in the pre-boarding area. The storyboards feature a wealth of facts and figures about Melbourne’s history, innovation, culture and quirky stories that may even surprise passionate Melburnian’s. For those interested in design and construction, the engineering effort that has gone into the construction of the largest compression wheel in the world, is also showcased. Melbourne Star’s cabin experience is completed by an audio tour that showcase’s Melbourne by day and night.

    Catch the train to Southern Cross Station; make your way to Harbour Esplanade to catch a tram or take a leisurely stroll along New Quay to Harbour Town Shopping Centre.

Maximum of up to 20 guests per cabin. Melbourne Star welcomes guests in wheelchairs (motorised and non-motorised). Conditions apply regarding wheelchair access and more information can be found at our website.
